Kakejiku Tanzaku Sage & Moss

15.5 × 80 cm

Japan

For the tanzaku format, from 6 to 7.5 cm wide (36 cm tall): a narrow shape once used to carry a single haiku, hung for the length of a season.

To the left, a pale sage green sets a quiet, airy tone. To the right, it deepens into a rich moss green, the color of old cedar after the rain.

Our Japanese artisan selected the fabrics and hand-mounted the piece following hyōgu, the traditional art of scroll mounting. Black lacquered end caps, twisted hanging cord.

Part of a small ongoing series, so this colourway stays available over time, unlike our one-of-a-kind pieces. A quiet presence for a tokonoma, a shelf, or beside a bonsai.
