Designed specifically to hold a shikishi in the Sunshōan format (12.1 x 13.6 cm), the most understated of the traditional Japanese presentation formats.
The fabric pairs a deep suō red, a traditional dye colour drawn from sappanwood, with a sakuranezu in the lower section, a dusty, almost mineral pink-grey named after the cherry blossom.
Fabrics selected together with the Japanese artisan, who then hand-mounted the piece according to the techniques of hyōgu, the traditional Japanese art of scroll mounting. Black lacquered end caps, twisted hanging cord.
One of a kind: this fabric combination will not be reproduced identically. A rare format, to accompany a bonsai, whether in a tokonoma or a Japanese-inspired interior.
